D Plus whistle

D Plus (D+) whistle - 120 GBP: made out of thin-walled aluminium tubing with 13mm bore. Extra right hand pinky hole for C below bottom D.

The longer tube and extra hole at the bottom for R4 (right hand pinky finger) provides an additional note a whole tone lower than the base note, i.e. the flat seventh for the major scale, same as found on a GHP chanter. This opens up new possibilities for playing an extended scale as well as new ornamentations, like rolls and crans on bottom D, plus an additional way of playing C natural on the D scale. By half-holing R2 for F natural one can also play in C major. Or half-hole R4 for C#.
